ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ed Werder both report that the Cowboys expect Dez Bryant (groin, questionable) to play Sunday at Carolina.

This is good news from two of the most reliable reporters in the business. Bryant has really turned it on over his last two games with 21 catches on 28 targets for 200 yards and two touchdowns. He's a borderline WR1 play against the Panthers' 23rd ranked pass defense.

Updating an earlier item, Dez Bryant (hip) was listed as out of Thursday's practice, but he still expects to start Sunday.

Bryant took the field for the portion of Cowboys practice open to the media, but apparently didn't do enough to earn a "limited" tag. "My hip’s bothering me a little bit, but I don’t think it’s going to stop me from playing Sunday," Bryant said. "I’m ready." Bryant hasn't been a dynamo playing through injury in his young career, but with a 28/324/2 line over his past four games, fantasy owners can't afford to bench him even if he isn't 100 percent.

According to ESPN Dallas, Dez Bryant was open "numerous times" in Week 9 as the Falcons played off coverage.

Although Bryant was targeted just four times, beat writer Calvin Watkins believes the receiver "should have gotten more throws his way." We noticed early in the game that Tony Romo simply wasn't looking in Bryant's direction, perhaps an indication that he wasn't heavily involved in the game plan after missing practices. It's something to keep in mind if Bryant misses practice time going forward.

A source tells ESPN that Dez Bryant (finger) "is going to play" Sunday "unless the doctors say he medically can't do it."

The Cowboys have placed Bryant in an unfair position. He'll likely be medically able to play through the injury, but will be risking permanent damage to his fractured finger by doing so. Of course, Dez doesn't want to let the franchise down, so he's insisting that he "wants to play," possibly with a splint as protection. Desperate owners looking to protect themselves while Bryant mulls the decision can add Dwayne Harris.

Coach Jason Garrett confirmed the Cowboys will give Dez Bryant (finger) "every chance to play" versus the Steelers in Week 15.

"If that is wait til Saturday (to catch passes), then we will wait til Saturday," said Garrett. "If it's wait til Sunday, it's wait til Sunday. We will give him every chance to do it." Garrett has taken at least a small measure of comfort in Bryant's 27-yard touchdown catch after fracturing the finger and taping it up during last week's game. Bryant did end up catching "a few" passes in Thursday's return to practice. Teammate Jason Witten said Bryant looked good doing so.
